CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) in LTE?

CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is an error-detecting mechanism used in LTE to ensure data integrity at the Physical Layer (PHY). It is a checksum-based method where extra bits (CRC bits) are appended to data blocks to detect errors during transmission.

  • Purpose: Detect transmission errors in transport blocks and control channels.
  • Layer: PHY (Physical Layer)
  • Bit Length: 16-bit or 24-bit CRC depending on the channel.
CRC is used in three main places in LTE.
